As a children’s pastor and mother, Winella continually sought ways to disciple her family. Like many parents, she knew the daily school commute was one of the few times she had her children’s full attention. But she also knew she was competing with screens and digital distractions. How could she make the best use of this precious time?
Then one day, her family discovered the Kids Bible Experience. YouVersion and OneHope partnered to create the Kids Bible Experience, housed within YouVersion’s Bible app. This app helps preteens establish a daily rhythm of seeking God. They can engage with new content each day from leading children’s ministries from around the world.
“My family and I are so thankful for the Kids Bible Experience,” Winella shares. “It has just been such an amazing blessing in our lives. It’s something my kids look forward to each day on the way to school.”
Each morning, what could have been just another commute transformed into a sacred space. Together, they listened to the verse of the day and watched engaging videos that brought Scripture to life. Over time, God’s Word became woven into the rhythm of their everyday lives.
The whole family loves it. Elijah, Winella’s husband, commented, “My family and I are so thankful for the Kids Bible Experience…My wife and I go in two separate directions to get our kids to school. But even though we’re separated, the one thing that we’re doing is experiencing the Kids Bible Experience with our children in the car.”
Their son, EJ, also loves it. “Every single morning that I drive to school, I watch the Kids Bible Experience videos, and their videos are so fun and educational. When it comes to God’s Word, I just love their videos, and I’m always looking forward to them.”
But the impact didn’t stop with her own family.
As a ministry leader, Winella recognized the ripple effect almost immediately. She began pointing parents in her church to the Kids Bible Experience as a resource they could trust—one that helps families grow spiritually together at home.
“I know that it’s a trusted resource that gets them engaged in God’s Word with their families,” she explains. “It’s been a tool that I’ve been able to tell my fifth and sixth graders about, something they can use on their devices so they’re getting into God’s Word daily.”
Through short devotionals, verses of the day, and engaging content designed specifically for 8 to 12-year-olds, Winella has seen how Scripture can meet children right where they are—on the devices they already use, in a language they understand.
“It’s just a cool way to reach kids at their age, in this stage of life,” she adds.
Today, Winella’s gratitude runs deep—not only for what God is doing in her own home, but for how He is equipping families and churches through accessible, trustworthy tools rooted in Scripture.
“It has just been an amazing blessing for our family, for our church,” Winella says. “I’m so thankful for the work that OneHope is doing, and so blessed to be a part of it.”
Elijah adds, “We really give credit to the Kids Bible Experience for igniting [our children’s] passion for the Word of God. We’re so grateful for that, and we continue to see the benefits of the Kids Bible Experience in their lives.”
Winella’s family story is a reminder that when God’s Word is placed into everyday moments—car rides, screen time, quiet mornings—it can shape hearts, strengthen families, and spark a lifelong love for Scripture.
