Restoring Hope in Panama After Earthquake

On October 9, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck western Panama, affecting families and causing disruption across several communities.

Through the leadership of Panama National Director Berenice Cosio, OneHope has committed  to strengthening and equipping local ministry leaders and church networks on the ground, supporting their ongoing efforts to bring God’s Word to children and youth across the country.

During this time of crisis, the local Church in Panama has served as a vital beacon of comfort, stability, and spiritual support for children and families navigating uncertainty.

In affected areas, local church partners and volunteers are actively serving their communities—organizing community events, gathering supplies for children, and sharing practical aid. Alongside these local initiatives, partners are distributing OneHope Scripture materials, including The Book of Hope, offering children and youth the enduring comfort and hope found in Christ.

“Seeing local churches step forward to serve their communities using the resources they have available is a powerful reminder of the Church’s vital role during times of crisis,” said Cosio. “Even amid uncertainty, the love of Christ shines through those who care for their neighbors.”
