From Silence to Seeking: Jodie’s Unexpected Journey of Faith

In a Muslim-majority nation, where learning about Jesus can be dangerous, and following Him may lead to persecution, 20-year-old Jodie began a journey she never expected.

As an agnostic who was studying psychology at university, Jodie had little interest in faith. But one day, she stumbled upon a social media ad for What if It’s True?, a digital evangelism program by OneHope.

Jodie, ever so curious, clicked on it.

She was soon connected with an online missionary who began asking questions to get to know her. Although Jodie wasn’t very responsive, the online missionary remained hopeful and encouraged her to explore the program website, which shares a message of hope and redemption through Jesus. But after that, silence.

All that remained were signs of a lost cause. But there was a divine stirring, a miracle right around the corner. Months later, as online missionaries routinely sifted through inactive chats and prayed over each seeker, the Holy Spirit prompted them to reach out to Jodie once more.

This time, Jodie answered, and for the first time, she was ready to talk.

Through patient listening and honest conversations, a shift began. The girl who once avoided questions now started confessing her struggles. She even asked a question that online missionaries are always eager to answer: “What’s the difference between genuine love and superficial love?”

Her online missionary pointed her toward the ultimate source of love: Jesus. In the safety of this digital space, Jodie found a place where she could ask the questions no one else in her life had ever answered. And that curiosity only grew.

Months later, something shifted. Jodie asked the question that changed everything: “How can I seek forgiveness for my sins?”

Through a year-long journey of her online missionary listening, guiding, and praying, Jodie found the perfect love of Jesus. She is no longer defined by doubt or uncertainty. Today, Jodie is a child of God, walking in the love and grace she never knew was possible.

Her story is a powerful reminder that evangelism isn’t just about sharing God’s Word; it’s about meeting people right where they are and walking with them toward the truth, no matter how long it takes.

Through your prayers, generosity, and commitment to reaching the next generation, young people like Jodie are encountering Christ, finding hope, and stepping into a future they never thought possible.

Help us spread the message of hope. Share this story and remind others that Jesus still transforms lives today!
