The “Rose” Phenomenon: The Film Series Reaching Millions of Teens with the Gospel

The Challenge: A Generation in Crisis

Beyond the borders of Latin America, global youth face an unprecedented identity crisis. In various geographic corners, violence dictates the rules, and homes are fragmented by crime, fear, and the noise of confusing ideologies. This environment of chaos threatens to become the only destiny for new generations.

The reality of teens today is an emotional battlefield. Research from OneHope’s Global Youth Culture report about Latin America youth reveals figures that cannot be ignored:

  • 1 in 3 young people in Latin America has had suicidal thoughts.
  • 49% experience high levels of anxiety, and 41% have suffered from recent depression.
  • 3 out of 5 confess to feeling deep loneliness.
  • 1 in 4 admits to having hurt someone through cyberbullying.

Research Turned into Art

The Rose film was created for youth who experience emotional struggle in their minds. The film emerged as an idea from deep research about the next generation. OneHope’s Latin America Global Youth Culture study also revealed that young people spend an average of 7.5 hours a day online and that 95 percent consume video daily.

Recognizing the mental health challenges and digital technology habits of young people, Rose uses animation, music, and cinematic storytelling to speak their language.

This award-winning film is the first animated series that uses speed, technology, the power of music, and biblical truth to stop the effects of mental chaos. The film offers a direct path for young people to encounter the only true God, capable of transforming any destiny.

OneHope partnered with VisionArt Studios in Bogotá, Colombia, to develop the first installment of Rose: a 38-minute animated short film.

The story features Rose, an ambitious motorcycle racer chasing fame. When a secret racing app catapults her to global stardom, she gets everything she ever wanted: money, recognition, and status. But behind the screens and the applause, something darker hides. After a tragic motorcycle accident leaves her world in ruins, Rose stumbles upon a truth she can no longer ignore: the transforming presence of Jesus, a voice she thought she had left behind, calling her to something greater. In a race between stardom and the light, she must decide what is truly worth winning.

More Than a Movie: An Emerging Movement

With only its first installment, Rose has evolved from a simple animated short film into a movement that has already reached over 3 million young people. This is much more than entertainment; it has become a powerful creative tool for sharing the Gospel and opening the door to real, honest, and transformative discipleship.

From the streets of Honduras, we heard the story of 15-year-old Edgar. Raised by his grandparents after his parents’ forced migration, Edgar saw faith as something distant and boring. However, after encountering Jesus through the Rose film, he abandoned years of apathy to surrender his life to a Christ who loves him and fills every void.

In Chile, the light of truth reached 15-year-old Sofía. After struggling since early adolescence with depression, suicidal behavior, and the occult, her life was transformed during a youth screening at her church, where the Rose film showed her that the Lord had always been there despite her indifference. Today, her parents, Gabriel and Sandra, testify with awe how joy has returned to their home, seeing the darkness of the past replaced by a palpable, present transformation.

Sofia and Edgar are two out of 3 million young people across Latin America who have been reached with the Gospel through the Rose film.

These miracle stories, among many others, are the result of a high-level artistic and cinematic expression sharing God’s truth with young people in creative ways that engage modern culture.

From Latin America to the World

What began as a movement in Latin America is expanding to other continents. Following the success in 34 countries in Latin America, the Rose film was piloted in showings across East and South Africa. As the film is shared with young people globally, a powerful truth has been confirmed: the need to discover purpose and hope in Jesus is universal.

In Zambia, 14-year-old Sara—who grew up feeling forgotten and overwhelmed by her mother’s absence—understood through Rose that, despite her circumstances, she has never ceased to be truly loved. Sara’s transformation created a ripple effect. As her friends saw her healing and heard her speak openly about her encounter with God, they began to change too, replacing bullying with kindness and began to process their own wounds in God’s presence.

The first film installment was only the beginning. OneHope and VisionArt Studios are preparing for the next great milestone: the launch of the official Rose series. This first season will feature ten 25-minute episodes, specifically designed for audiences aged 12 to 21. The series will explore critical modern themes such as the search for identity, the pressures of digital fame, and spiritual restoration, offering a deeper journey into Rose’s encounter with the transforming presence of Jesus.

Creative teams are preparing for the premiere of the second chapter of this new production this week, leading up to Easter. The series is designed to deepen the lessons of faith and restoration, using the conversation about mental health as the key that opens the door to biblical truth.

A Digital Mission Without Barriers or Limits

At the end of the day, Rose is not just a film or series: it has become a bridge to discipleship. OneHope has partnered with local churches in Latin America and beyond to connect with young people through the film and activate an ongoing discipleship relationship that catalyzes a profound transformation in the heart of every young person.

Rose breaks away from the religion of appearances to offer young people a real encounter with Jesus. In this race to reach the next generation, OneHope and VisionArt Studios are committed to removing all barriers; they have eliminated paywalls and subscriptions to access Rose film assets. By publishing the series for free on YouTube, the ministry ensures that the message of hope accelerates without obstacles until it reaches those who need it most.

Don’t miss out on this incredible series. The second episode of Rose will be available starting April 2nd, 2026.
