Her Father Went Missing on the Front Lines!
Milana’s dad was on the front lines of war in Ukraine.
The ongoing conflict has left deep scars on children and youth like Milana, 6. Missile strikes and power outages disrupt daily life, while the constant threat of violence breeds anxiety. Many children lose the ability to focus, to rest, or to feel safe.
For Milana, the war wasn’t just something happening around her. It had taken her father away, placing him directly in danger.
By God’s grace, he had kept in touch with his family via cell phone. Then one day … the calls stopped.
It’s not difficult to imagine the terror and anxiety that gripped Milana’s heart! She had friends whose relatives had died in the fighting … What if her father had been killed?
Thankfully, Milana had been attending a children’s Bible study you make possible, and she had received the Onward: Journey to the Light Book of Hope.
The next time she attended Bible study, she told Iryna, a local OneHope team member, about her dad’s disappearance. Near tears, she shared, “All my friends say he’s already dead. That’s why he’s not calling.”
Iryna told Milana, “You might not reach your dad now, and maybe you feel helpless, but God is there with your dad. Let’s pray together for God to protect him.”
She led the children in prayer … and several days later, Milana heard from her father again! He had been wounded, but he was alive.
“Children from various religious backgrounds attend our evangelism club,” Iryna says, “and I do believe that these encounters with God help the children to develop their own spiritual journey.”
Thank you for reaching out to Milana with God’s Word and His love!

How Your Gift Changed Diana’s Life
Diana was a quiet, reserved girl in Venezuela. With her parents separated and her mother working constantly, she spent much of her childhood alone. And when her grandfather — her best friend — died, the loneliness only deepened.
Her father tried to protect her by giving her a Santería bracelet, promising it would keep her safe.
Santería is an Afro-Caribbean religion comparable to Voodou. Diana’s father told her the bracelet would protect her from harm. She wore it religiously from the time she was 6 years old … trusting the spirits as her father did.
But then, when she was 11, she was invited to a showing of the OneHope youth film Rose, an animated movie about a rebellious motorcycle-racing teen girl who discovers hope in Jesus.
After watching the movie, Diana chose hope in Jesus, too! Because of what she learned from the Rose film, she took off her Santería bracelet. Then, she told her father she did not need the protection of her bracelet anymore because Jesus is her Protector and Savior.
“I told him Jesus loves us and is the one true God,” Diana says. “My dad’s eyes were opened, and he … started going to church with me.”
Diana gained confidence, made friends, began serving in leadership, and today she even helps lead a Bible study for other children in her church.
Your gift of God’s Word transformed Diana’s life, and her dad’s as well!
Hope Takes Root in a Crossroads City
For centuries, this Eurasian city (a limited access region we cannot name in print) has stood at a crossroads of peoples and beliefs with history shaped by Russian Orthodoxy, Islam, and decades of official atheism under the Soviet Union.
More recently, the region has also been affected by the upheaval of the Russia-Ukraine war, as families fleeing violence and uncertainty have passed through or resettled here, adding new complexity and a rising tide of pressure, stress, insecurity, and hopelessness.
Our local church partners are faithfully serving in this environment, committed to introducing children and youth to a living, personal relationship with Jesus in a place where evangelical Christianity is largely unknown. Placing the life-transforming power of God’s Word into the hands of young lives here is making an impact!
Meet sisters Regina (age 9) and Kira (age 3). They were invited to a neighborhood children’s outreach at a local church. Coming from an atheist family, this was their first meaningful exposure to the Bible. Through games, quizzes, and engaging characters, they heard biblical stories and learned about Jesus for the first time.
Each child also received their own Bible App for Kids Book of Hope. Though Kira cannot yet read, she eagerly explored the illustrations as Regina read the entire book aloud to her. The girls soon began attending Sunday school weekly, where they prayed, made new friends, and continued learning stories from Scripture.
Today, both sisters are following Jesus, and their church family is praying with them that their parents, too, will soon come to know the Lord!
Thank you for standing with your partners who minister across the Russian Diaspora with the Word of God for the next generation! You are making an eternal difference for children like Regina and Kira.
Hope on Wheels: You’re Bringing God’s Word to Refugee Camps
In places marked by conflict and displacement, refugee families carry far more than what fits into a tent or temporary shelter. Mothers shoulder relentless strain as they care for children without resources. Children grow up with the sounds of gunfire in their memories and the language of war etched into their minds. Schools are often inaccessible. Safe spaces are rare. Many wrestle with anxiety, depression, and sleep disruptions that no child should ever endure.
And yet — because of you — hope is arriving in an unexpected way.
Through OneHope’s partnership with a trusted local organization, teams enter refugee camps in a limited access nation in the Middle East with a simple but powerful approach: a van fitted out with four washing machines. It rumbles into camp, and laundry is lifted from women’s aching arms.
While clothes are washed, refugee children gather for OneHope programs led by trained teams. Using age-appropriate biblical stories, they learn foundational skills such as language, basic math, and science — alongside lessons that help them process emotions, build resilience, and develop life skills. Week by week, young Muslim refugees are hearing the Gospel through these Scripture-engagement programs, often for the very first time.
At the same time, other team members sit with parents, listening to their stories and offering care, dignity, and life-giving conversations centered on God’s love.
What looks like a practical service is also an innovative ministry bridge — one you are helping build. Together, we are unlocking hearts, opening doors that might otherwise stay shut, and planting seeds of eternal hope in places where despair once took root.
Even a Crisis Can Open a Door
By OneHope President Rob Hoskins
We are living in a time when all the brokenness of the world is no longer distant. It is personal. It is visible.
Children and youth are waking up to the unthinkable: fleeing their homes, crossing borders, and becoming part of a growing global diaspora.
It is precisely during times of crisis that the opportunity to reach the next generation through digital means is accelerated.
Through our partnership with YouVersion, we’ve seen more than 1 billion installs across the Bible App platforms. Of those, nearly 150 million are from the Bible App for Kids. That means tens of millions of children are encountering Jesus right where they are, in a language they understand, through a format that is accessible even during times of global crisis.
In the hardest-to-reach regions of the world, such as majority-Muslim nations, we reach out through digital programs such as What If It’s True? that engage seekers with Scripture and connect them with an online missionary.
Our partners respond to crisis by faithfully sharing the hope of the Gospel through various print programs, including Onward: Journey to the Light, a Book of Hope designed to help young people who are experiencing war and conflict process their emotions in ways that are grounded in scriptural truths.
When the world is in the midst of conflict and devastation, it is our moment to respond and put God’s Word in the hands of the next generation, trusting the Spirit of God to do what only He can do: transform lives from the inside out.
The opportunity before us is greater than the calamity around us. Let’s step into it together.

Sixteen Cards, One Unshakable Hope: How God’s Big Story Is Reaching Children in South Sudan
In South Sudan, Sunday school teachers like Moses serve on the front lines of ministry amid long-standing instability. Years of conflict, insecurity, famine, and marginalization have left churches with few resources, little formal training, and almost no materials — especially for children.
For children, the challenges are even greater. School is not guaranteed. Literacy cannot be assumed. Yet their hunger to learn and belong is unmistakable. Moses has long carried a simple but pressing question: How do I help children truly know the Word of God?
That’s where you come in — with God’s Big Story.
Designed for under-resourced and oral-storytelling cultures, this program equips teachers like Moses with a powerful, practical way to share the Gospel. Each session, children hear a Bible story — from creation through redemption in Jesus — and receive an illustrated card that helps them remember and retell what they’ve learned.
Over time, those cards form the complete narrative of the Bible, Old Testament to New, culminating in the resurrection and the invitation to follow Christ.
For children who may never learn to read, this matters deeply. They are not just hearing entertaining stories — they are learning the story, holding it in their hands, and sharing it naturally with others.
Sunday school teachers like Moses value God’s Big Story because it overcomes barriers that once felt immovable. It equips them to teach with clarity and confidence, and it keeps children coming back, eager for the next piece of the Gospel story.
Inspired by what he’s seen, Moses is committed to continuing this work and sharing what he’s learned with other teachers.
Because of you, children growing up in chaos are discovering a story of hope — one they can carry with them for life.
