Once gripped by fear and shame, Intan now walks a new path: one filled with hope for herself and her unborn child.
Intan sat on the edge of her bed in her dark room. Drenched in sweat, she winced at her abdominal pain. She cried out, “Why is this happening?” Another cramp forced her to grip a chair for support. At least the pain made her forget the nausea. Her tears flowed.
A Muslim teen in a majority-Muslim nation, Intan had hidden her pregnancy from her family and friends. Her boyfriend insisted on an abortion and even provided the pills. She tried… once, twice. Nothing worked. With the third attempt, pain and sickness remained, and a stirring sense that this baby was meant to live.

“But how could I do this alone?” she wondered. Her parents worked tirelessly and were already overwhelmed. Desperate and hopeless, Intan considered ending her life.
When the pain and nausea subsided, she went online to research her options. There, she saw an ad that read, “Sometimes, we lose hope of ever finding a way out of a problem or weakness that ties us down. Is that how you feel?”
She clicked.
Intan found herself on our Unfinished Story website, where she discovered resources that assured her: no matter how harrowing her own story right now, she could have hope for a brighter future in Jesus.
Intan explored the website. The message of a God who loves her filled her with hope. Eventually, she decided to connect with an online missionary.
Intan poured out her soul. The online missionary responded with compassion and words of encouragement, drawing from Scripture. Then she prayed fervently for the two precious souls and committed to stand by Intan until she summoned the courage to tell her family.
For the first time, Intan felt the warmth and love of Christ. Maybe Jesus did care for her and her baby!

Intan chose life for her baby and herself.
Filled with hope and newfound courage, Intan confided in her parents about her pregnancy. She was elated when her parents ultimately supported her decision to keep the baby.
Today, she stays in touch with her online missionary friends, and we believe that one day soon, she’ll be ready to meet with a local faith community in person.
Intan and her baby have a new and better story ahead for them, because she received the hope of God’s Word!
Stand for life and light. Join us in reaching young people facing dark decisions. Be their connection to Christ.
