In parts of the world where the Church is under-resourced, persecuted, or even underground, a vast mission field remains. Nearly one-third of the world’s population has never heard the Gospel or had access to God’s Word—and over one billion of them are children and youth. This is often called the Final Third: the last generation segment still waiting to hear the hope of Jesus.
That’s why partnership matters
The collaboration between OneHope is built on a shared vision and complementary strengths. Together, these ministries are reaching unreached people groups, planting churches, and bringing the Gospel to communities where Jesus’ name has never been known.
Each year between November and March, Operation Christmas Child mobilizes churches worldwide to distribute more than 12 million shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items—and most importantly, a Gospel-centered message of hope. OneHope comes alongside by sponsoring The Greatest Gift Scripture booklet and The Greatest Journey, a follow-up discipleship program designed to nurture faith and equip young believers to share the Gospel.
The impact is remarkable. Nearly six million children participate in the discipleship program each year, creating a multiplying Gospel impact that transforms families and entire communities. OneHope is honored to play a role in this work by helping place Scripture resources in some of the world’s most sensitive and unreached areas.
Reaching the Unreached
A cornerstone of this partnership is Operation Christmas Child’s Ends of the Earth initiative—a bold commitment to bring shoebox gifts to remote and previously unreached people groups. While OCC provides the initial connection to children and families, OneHope extends the impact through localized Scripture engagement and discipleship tools that support long-term church growth.
In one sensitive nation, an isolated and fragmented people group gathered for the first time after hearing about shoebox gifts. One mother arrived desperate for help for her sick child, expecting only temporary relief. Instead, she encountered the hope of the Gospel. After receiving a shoebox and hearing the message of Jesus, her family responded in faith—and soon began sharing that hope with others. Before long, 17 families had come to Christ, forming the beginnings of a new church.
Stories like this are becoming increasingly common.
In Madagascar, a pastor spent years attempting to reach a resistant people group with little success. When he arrived with shoebox gifts and began meeting practical needs, especially in education, the community finally welcomed him. The Gospel was preached for the first time, and eventually four new churches were planted in the region.
While OCC opens the door, OneHope helps ensure what happens beyond it—equipping children and families with Scripture engagement that leads to lasting faith and discipleship.
Looking Ahead
In 2025, this partnership is helping reach more than 480 unique unreached people groups, many in regions OneHope could not access alone. By combining OCC’s global distribution network with Scripture-based resources, the Gospel is advancing in extraordinary ways.
As the partnership continues to grow, OneHope and Operation Christmas Child are working together to more intentionally connect unreached communities to local churches, creating deeper roots of faith for the next generation.
When ministries unite with humility, creativity, and a shared commitment to the Great Commission, the Gospel doesn’t just go farther—it goes deeper. And the ends of the earth begin to feel a little closer.
Share this story to celebrate what God is doing through collaboration and to invite others to join in bringing His Word to the ends of the earth.
