Hope and Healing through God’s Word
IN THE AFRICAN NATION OF TOGO, AMAVI WAS TRANSFORMED!
A lonely teenager, Amavi carried the weight of an embarrassing health condition that brought deep humiliation. Classmates mocked her, she missed school activities, and she often cried alone, wondering if things would ever change.
At home, her family was deeply rooted in Vodou traditions. They regularly consulted their household shrine, offering prayers and sacrifices to ancestral spirits for Amavi’s healing. Despite years of faithful devotion to these ancient practices, no relief ever came.
Everything changed when you sent a Scripture program to her high school. Volunteers distributed the Book of Hope, telling her: “Jesus heals all kinds of illnesses.”
Reading about the woman who suffered for years yet found healing through Jesus, hope stirred in Amavi’s heart. That night, she prayed — asking Jesus for forgiveness and healing. To her amazement, she was delivered from the condition that had shadowed her life since childhood.
Today she’s a joyful follower of Jesus, growing in faith at her local church. Thank you for showing her the way to hope and healing by sending God’s Word!

She Found Her Strength and Identity in Christ Through Unstoppable
Esther thought her whole identity was REFUGEE.
She and her family had been forced to flee violent conflict in South Sudan and now lived in a resettlement camp in Uganda where, she says, “I felt invisible and powerless.”
Everything began to change when Esther joined other girls from her neighborhood in working through Unstoppable, a OneHope Scripture program created in partnership with Joyce Meyer Ministries. The book helps tween and teen girls discover their identity in Christ and find strength to live for Him.
Through the lessons, Esther found her voice and her confidence. “The games we played, the friends I made — I found a family in that space. For the first time, I felt heard. The facilitators encouraged us to speak up, and now I can confidently express myself, even at school, without fear.”
She now dreams of becoming a servant leader. “I’ve learned that leadership isn’t for a select few — it’s something anyone can learn. I want to be a leader who puts others first.”
Even as she prays for peace in South Sudan and protection for girls in her community, Esther is walking forward with hope — unstoppable in Christ.
Thank you for showing Esther the way to new life in relationship with Jesus! Your gift today can be DOUBLED to reach more African young people like her with God’s Word.

A Muslim teenager finds hope in Jesus!
In Togo, Muslim teenager Mondo believed sins are wiped out by good deeds, so he could do whatever he wanted now and make up for it later as an adult.
The soccer-themed The True Champion Book of Hope showed him the truth that Jesus died for our sins.
“It was as if a veil was lifted from my eyes,” Mondo recalls. He gave his life to Jesus that day!
Thank you for sending God’s Word for Mondo! Your gift now will be doubled to reach twice as many African young people.

Lost at 11 — Found Forever
At just 11 years old, Malick was slipping down a dangerous path.
Born into a Muslim family near a sprawling rubbish dump, he scavenged for survival — but the dump also harbored a darker world of drugs and crime. Malick fell in with the wrong crowd, abandoned school, and drifted further from his family, lost in a cycle of bad choices.
But then, something changed. He started visiting a local soccer club, a place that felt different — filled with kindness, guidance, and something he hadn’t felt in a long time: hope.
The club leaders gave him a special-edition Book of Hope called The Friend Who Changed My Life. As he read, Malick’s heart softened. He left behind bad influences, stopped stealing, and let go of the substances clouding his mind.
The biggest change? He returned to school and reunited with his parents, who were overwhelmed with joy at the transformation in their son.
Malick had been lost, but Jesus found him. The Friend who changed his life didn’t just rescue him from the streets — He gave him a future worth believing in.
Thank you for making stories like Malick’s possible! Today because of the 60 Days of Destiny for Africa Matching Challenge, every donation will be DOUBLED to get God’s Word to African children and youth, up to the $1 million total.
5 Lessons from the African Church
By OneHope President Rob Hoskins
Because Africa is the youngest continent and the Christian population is growing, I believe Africa is the future center for Christianity in the world.
In a conversation I had with Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo of Watoto Church in Kampala, Uganda, I was once again made aware of all the African church has to teach the global body of Christ. His words offer five key lessons for how faith communities can thrive in a changing world and become beacons of hope for the next generation.
- Create a Place of Belonging: As a teenager, Pastor Julius first experienced church as a space where young people were truly welcomed. Worship was vibrant, relevant, and life-giving, making him feel his life could count for something. Churches that invite people to belong before they believe cultivate lasting transformation.
- Keep the Mission Outward-Facing: Watoto taught that the church exists not for itself, but to make a difference in the city. This vision formed young leaders who grew into influencers, shaping neighborhoods and workplaces for the good of the wider community.
Unite Across Divisions: In a city marked by tribal and social divisions, Watoto Church became a community where differences were set aside in favor of a shared identity in Christ. This unity created space for intermarriage, deep friendships, and a countercultural vision of belonging to God’s Kingdom above tribe or class.
Translate Faith into Everyday Life: The values taught on Sunday spilled into homes and neighborhoods. Jobs, family life, and community service were seen not as ends in themselves, but as opportunities to live out Kingdom purpose.
Hold the Tension Between Culture and Gospel: African churches honor culture — music, dance, family traditions — while discerning which practices align with God’s Word and which must be released. This work of reconciliation allows churches to be both rooted in heritage and relevant in pluralistic, urban settings.
From Kampala to the world, these lessons remind us that the church flourishes when it is welcoming, outward-looking, united, practical, and discerning.

Wellinton comes from a broken home and felt sad about his circum-stances until he received the Superbook Book of Hope. Now he says, “Jesus has made a change in my life, I have accepted what God gives us with love and without contempt, and I continue to see his grace in me.”
DRC
Richie experienced our Lead Today leadership development program and our Catalyze program for college-age students. Today he says of his journey, “I have considerably deepened my relationship with God. I now consider myself a Holy Spirit-filled Christian with the skills to impact the world in the name of Jesus Christ.”
GUATEMALA
A partner church sponsored an event that drew a crowd of kids with pillows and blankets for “Cinema with a Purpose” night, serving popcorn and colas during a showing of our Lumo Gospel film. The next day the young people made drawings of their favorite moments of the movie, and all of them were drawings of Jesus!
Catalyze: Empowering Young Leaders Across Africa
For many young people in Africa, the Catalyze program is a launchpad to business leadership, entrepreneurial creativity, and even spiritual growth. Barbra, a participant in the Kenya
Catalyze Club, describes the experience as “such a game-changer,” not only for her but for the organizations she has supported through the program.
According to Barbra, the contribution of Catalyze interns is felt in very practical ways. “Whether it’s data entry, keeping track of communications, or helping out with follow-up tasks for the Spark and Catalyze programs, we’ve been able to get things done faster and more efficiently. Having that extra help has been a huge relief for the team.”
Yet, Catalyze goes beyond logistics. Interns bring energy and innovation, pushing organizations toward new ways of thinking. “It’s been so cool to see how their fresh ideas have sparked new ways of thinking within the team,” Barbra reflects, noting how brainstorming sessions and focus groups have been enriched by their input.
Her journey with Catalyze also extended across borders. Through the Pamoja Africa Festival, she traveled with alumni through Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. The experience was “life-changing,” she says, offering lessons in cross-cultural collaboration, team bonding, and even fundraising — an unexpected challenge that stretched her leadership capacity.
Most importantly, Barbra highlights how Catalyze shapes leaders. “We’re not just sitting on the sidelines — we’re stepping up, taking responsibility, and contributing to how things are done.” For her, leading as an intern has been “a major win,” equipping her to become more efficient, more creative, and ready to guide other young people.
Catalyze empowers Africa’s next generation, ensuring that young leaders like Barbra not only grow personally but also drive meaningful change in their communities.
