When Joshua first walked into school as a fourth grader, he was carrying more than just a backpack. His struggle with self-control was visible–his frustration and inner chaos led to him feeling ashamed and out of control. Recognizing his struggle, his heartbroken mother enrolled him at Purpose Academy, a Christian middle school OneHope founded in South Florida to serve under-resourced students.
But the road to transformation wasn’t instant for Joshua. By seventh grade, his challenges had intensified. He was falling behind academically, disrupting his classes, and pushing away those trying to help. His teachers saw a young man spiraling with his future hanging in the balance. He faced a pivotal moment: change course or face consequences that could set his life on a destructive path.

That’s when Purpose Academy stepped in, not just as a school, but as a place of redemptive possibility.
Through godly counsel, loving correction, and a community that refused to give up on him, Joshua was challenged to choose a different path. When he returned for eighth grade, something was different. He had made a choice. He started avoiding the negative influences that had pulled him down before.
Joshua had become self-aware and grounded. His demeanor changed, and people noticed.
His classmates, recognizing the transformation, voted him class president. At graduation, he stood tall and shared a new dream during his speech: “I can’t wait to come back and speak at chapel one day.”
Now in high school, Joshua is thriving. He made the honor roll during his first quarter, serves on the school’s praise and worship team, and attends Purpose Academy’s Beyond PA meetings regularly, encouraging other students to step into their calling.

And now, Joshua does it all with a radiant smile and peaceful spirit.
Joshua’s transformation is a picture of what Purpose Academy is all about: nurturing young minds with academic excellence and Christ-centered love. Students aren’t just taught math and reading, they’re equipped with biblical truth, leadership skills, and the confidence to live boldly for Christ in a broken world.
“He knows without Jesus none of this would have been possible,” one teacher said. “We are so proud of him!”
Joshua’s story is one of many. It’s a testament to what happens when faith, love, education, and perseverance collide—when a school believes not just in potential, but in the power of the Gospel to transform a young person’s present and future.
Help us spread the message of hope. Share Joshua’s story and show the power of faith-filled education to change a child’s future.
