From Intern to Innovator: Midsi’s Journey in Digital Marketing-Based Missions

When Midsi Perez first heard of the Cultivate intern program, she had no idea it would open the door to a life-changing career in digital ministry.

Born and raised in South Florida, Midsi committed to Christ in high school. She says, “I began to discover my faith in my freshman year. The Lord sent three amazing pastors’ kids into my life [who invited me to church]. There, I came to know a personal God, rather than the institutional type of God I had known growing up.”

Initially, as a pre-nursing student at Florida Atlantic University, she felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to pursue her creative passions for God’s glory. That shift led her to marketing and, eventually, to a summer internship with Cultivate in 2024.

She became aware of OneHope through an online application at her college. She was surprised to discover some of her friends at church were involved in the ministry. The more she found out about OneHope and the Cultivate program, the more curious she became. When she was offered the internship, she accepted it readily.

“I didn’t know what to expect. I just said, ‘Yes, Lord,’” Midsi recalled. “What I received was more than I imagined; friendships, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of ministry-minded marketing.”

Through Cultivate, Midsi learned to build marketing personas, develop a strategy, and offer creative direction. But even more important, she learned OneHope’s core value of collaboration.

She remarked, “There were plenty of things we did together as a Cultivate cohort. As iron sharpens iron, it showed me the power of having believers around you, affirming you, speaking into you, and bringing wisdom.”

Another lesson she learned was to remain faithful by saying yes. “It helped me to grow in my faith by trusting that even if it seems impossible, feels uncomfortable, or veers from my plans, God has me in the palm of His hand and He will use it for His glory.”

Midsi’s openness to where the Spirit leads her prompted her to propose a podcast project for the TELOS YouTube series during her internship, an initiative not originally on her to-do list. Encouraged by her manager, Midsi led the production of six episodes designed to empower youth leaders. Since the series launched, the lifetime reach for Telos has reached over 44,000 views!

After graduating from college, Midsi joined OneHope full-time as a Digital Engagement Marketing Specialist for the Digital Marketing Group (DMG). The transition was intense, but she leaned into the challenge.

“It was a free fall for the first few months,” she said. “But I was eager to learn and grow. My team supported me every step of the way.”

In contrast to traditional marketing, which often focuses on products and profit, Midsi’s work centers on engaging hearts and pointing youth toward Christ. She integrates data analysis and creativity to build campaigns that resonate across cultures and time zones. Through Midsi and the Digital Marketing Group’s efforts, OneHope is reaching over 20 million children and youth annually with the hope of God’s Word.

One standout example came from her work on campaigns in Japan, a region known for its spiritual resistance.

“I noticed higher engagement between midnight and 5 a.m.,” she said. “We tailored a campaign to reach teens when they were most online, and saw incredible results.”

Though still early in her career, Midsi is already modeling the kind of leadership OneHope values: outcome-based, generosity, humility, and loving.

She intentionally builds relationships with her team, offers help beyond the workplace, and entrusts others with the strategies she helps design.

“I give my heart to these projects,” she said. “But I also trust my teammates to bring their own strengths to the table.”

During a recent design sprint project, she collaborated with creatives and campaign managers to overhaul underperforming campaigns. The team launched six to eight new campaigns, sparking renewed engagement.

As Midsi reflects on her journey, from saying “yes” to an internship she barely understood, to stewarding marketing strategies, she senses that God isn’t done yet.

“I want to keep growing, keep learning, and keep saying yes,” she said.

Midsi’s story is a testament to what happens when faith meets opportunity, and when young leaders are empowered to step into their callings.

“Be faithful in the yes,” she said. “God can do more than you could ever think or imagine.”
