In the dense forest of Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya, young Jamin’s life was fraught with hardship.
The nights at his home were far from peaceful, filled with the sounds of violent arguments between his parents. His father’s alcoholism fueled the abuse, leaving Jamin and his five siblings devastated and terrified.
Survival was a constant struggle. Both of Jamin’s parents were unemployed, and the family lived in extreme poverty. The lack of stability and constant fear took a toll on Jamin’s school performance, causing his grades to plummet.

One day, seeking a brief respite from the chaos at home, Jamin and his siblings decided to visit a local church that was showing The GodMan film by OneHope. This movie had drawn many children from the area and the classroom was filled with young, eager faces, all intrigued by the story unfolding on the screen. Jamin, too, found himself captivated by the film, which portrayed the life of Christ and the gospel message.
After the film, the pastor approached Jamin and handed him a Book of Hope. This book became a beacon of light in Jamin’s dark world. As he turned the pages, he read the story of Abraham and learned about God’s love and fatherly care.
For the first time, Jamin began to believe in God. This newfound faith brought a sense of comfort and strength he had never felt before.

“I also learned how to pray from the Book of Hope,” Jamin recalls. One evening, as his father began his usual cycle of violence against Jamin’s mother, Jamin felt a surge of courage. In the midst of his father’s outburst, Jamin stood up and prayed aloud for him. It was a moment of sheer faith and bravery.
Miraculously, Jamin’s prayer had an immediate impact. His father stopped his violent behavior and began to listen. This was just the beginning of an incredible transformation. Through the prayer, Jamin’s father began to trust in Jesus. That very night, Jamin’s mother also embraced the Christian faith.

“When I was going to sleep that night, I knew God was with me,” Jamin recalls. It was a night of profound change, not just for Jamin, but for his entire family. Jamin’s father sought forgiveness and started rebuilding his relationship with his son. The transformation was radical and heartfelt.
Their family dynamic changed dramatically. No longer was their home a place of fear; it became a place of faith and healing. Jamin’s father found work, which brought some financial stability to the family. They started attending church together regularly, finding a supportive community that helped them grow in their faith.
Today, Jamin and his family are active members of their church, sharing their story to inspire others. Jamin’s journey from fear to faith is a beacon of hope, illustrating that God’s love can bring light to the darkest places.
