In a city where 98% of the population is Muslim and which is considered one of the poorest provinces in the country, Lydia leads a life full of hardships.
At just 16 years old, she has carried a weight far heavier than most her age. Starting from elementary school through vocational high school, Lydia endured relentless bullying. It’s the cruel words that chipped away at her confidence, leaving her feeling rejected.
Yet home didn’t offer her a refuge either. When all that Lydia longed for was her father’s affection, whether that’s a simple hug or kind words, instead she became the target of his anger. To escape the tension, she turned to karate, hoping the discipline and strength would help her outrun the pain inside. But no amount of kicks or punches could silence the ache in her heart.
The combined sting of rejection at home and at school pushed Lydia to the edge. It got to the point where the pain became so overwhelming that she once considered ending her life as the only way to stop the hurt.
Her parents eventually discovered her struggles, and Lydia began psychiatric care, relying on medication to manage her mental health. On the outside, she appeared strong and quiet—but inside, the battle continued.
Then came a turning point. As Lydia was scrolling through her phone in hopes of escaping her pain with any kind of media, she stumbled upon Kuncup, a digital ministry platform designed by OneHope (or the local OneHope team) to share stories about who God is, His truth, and how we can have hope through Jesus. Lydia was so mesmerized by the content shared through Kuncup that she ended up reaching out to the channel, thanking them for their inspiring work.
As a result, a conversation started with one of the Online Missionaries, and Lydia found a trusted friend whom she could confide in—a rare comfort in her life. The messages of hope and truth spoke directly to her heart. For the first time in a long time, Lydia felt seen.
What makes Lydia’s story beautiful is her openness to God’s Word. Though her journey is far from over, she has found peace in the biblical truths shared through Kuncup. Each message reminds her that she is valued and never alone. Slowly, hope is replacing despair. Today, she studies at a vocational tourism school, building a bright future despite the scars of her past.
Lydia’s testimony is a powerful reminder of the impact of online ministry. Through intentional engagement, compassion, and the sharing of God’s Word, a young girl in a Muslim-majority nation is experiencing hope amidst her pain. Her journey shows that even in the digital space, we have the opportunity to reach hearts in need—guiding them toward the ultimate source of healing and love.
Help us spread the message of hope. Share this story and remind others that Jesus still transforms lives today.
