Children’s Faith Starts at Home—And How We Can Help

Across the globe, Christian parents are navigating complex questions about raising children in today’s world. Many want to pass on their faith, but don’t feel equipped to do so.

That question—how to support families in spiritual formation—led us at OneHope to dig deeper. In 2022, we surveyed over 2,000 parents across five countries: Australia, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. We heard from moms and dads, ages 20 to 59, with children between the ages of 7 and 19.

Only about a third of parents said they feel they have a strong influence on their child’s life. Nearly 30% described themselves as overwhelmed or discouraged. And only 11% said their primary goal as a parent was to pass down faith and values.

But here’s what gives us hope:

In a follow-up study with U.S. Christian parents, 80% said they believe they’re primarily responsible for their child’s spiritual growth. That’s a powerful starting point.

The challenge? Most don’t feel confident about how to do it.

Free Resources for the Journey

This is why we created the Parent Resource Hub—a free collection of practical tools and insights to support parents as they guide their children in faith.

The Parents Resource Hub is a curated space filled with:

  • Key research summaries on parenting and faith formation
  • Conversation guides for talking with children and youth about faith, identity, and technology
  • Links to tools like Bible App for Kids and Kids Bible Experience

This free resource is ideal for parents, pastors, ministry teams, school leaders, or anyone who wants to better support families in their community.
